Shipping plays an important role when it comes to transport and trade. It is a surprise to know that more than 85% of the goods are sent through ships around the world? Many different shipping containers help in moving the cargo from one part of the world to the other. These different shipping containers serve different purposes. They come in different dimensions and also different structures. Based on the requirements one needs to choose the container for shipping. These shipping containers are mostly used for long journeys. Cargos shipped using these containers surely come in one piece without any damage while in transit. Below are different types of shipping containers:
- Dry storage container: Dry storage containers are some of the most widely used containers in the transportation industry. Available in 10-foot, 20-foot and 40-foot length designed to carry storage of dry goods
- Flat rack container: Flat rack container is a special container with only short end walls.
- Open top container: Open containers have an open-top covered with tarpaulin rather than a fixed roof. This means that bulk loads such as wood and scrap metal can be loaded from above.
- Tunnel container: The container tunnel has 8 footers on each side that looks like a tunnel when both doors are open. In some regions, tunnel containers are also referred to as tunnel containers, double-sided containers, or double door containers
- Open side storage container: The open storage container has two sets of double doors on the long side. Both of these doors are designed to open along with the container and have full access to the container for loading and unloading.
- Double doors container: Like a normal dry container, a double door container has two doors at each end instead of one. These containers are made of durable materials such as steel or aluminium and are available in 20 feet, 40 feet and 40 feet cube containers.
- Refrigerated ISO containers: ISO cooling container. ISO certified refrigerated container for transportation and storage of perishable or temperature-controlled products.
- Insulated or thermal containers: Insulated carrier packaging is a type of packaging used to transport temperature-sensitive products such as food, pharmaceuticals, organs, blood, biological materials, vaccines and chemicals. This term can also refer to an insulated composite container or an insulated relay
- Tanks: A tank container or tank tainer is a composite container for transporting liquids, gases and powders as bulk cargo
- Cargo storage roll container: A collapsible container is one of the special container devices designed to carry a set or pile of materials
- Half height containers: Half-height containers are made to transport small amounts of heavy loads by train and by sea.
